Hello I am Brianne Cavan-Heard, the creator of Cavan's Creations. I am Mohawk Wolf Clan from Six Nations of the Grand River in southern Ontario. Powless-Bomberry-Henhawk’s are my family. Being an Indigenous mother of 4, I want to be a strong role model and encourage my kids to follow their dreams.

Growing up, I was always doing crafts, making string or beaded bracelets, cross-stitching and molding clay. In my teens, I got into woodworking and and graduated with honours in Cabinetmaking from Georgian College in Barrie Ontario. After graduation, I started an apprenticeship in Cabinetmaking but then the recession hit and I was laid off. Over the years, I went back to College for Carpentry and Plumbing I started an apprenticeship in Plumbing in the union but there was not enough work for me to get in my hours so I left it.

In 2019, my 3rd daughter was stillborn. In 2020, I welcomed my son during the start of the world pandemic. For myself, beading is my medicine. I used beading as a therapy to deal with the grief of losing my daughter. Being able to create beautiful pieces of jewelry out of leather, semi-precious stones, fur and beads I find very healing.

I am also a full time University student. I am in my second year doing my Bachelor’s of Arts in Ogwehoweh Languages- Mohawk stream. For this reason I only take on a couple custom orders from September to May.  If you are looking for something specific, I would be honoured to create a custom piece for you. My summer bookings fill up fast so if you would like to add your name to my waitlist please send me a message at
